'Grk and the Pelotti Gang' was shortlisted for the 2006 Blue Peter Book Awards in the "Book I Couldn't Put Down" category. The winners were announced live on the programme on 15th November. In the end, Grk narrowly missed out to 'Blood Fever' by Charlie Higson.
'A Dog Called Grk' won the 2006 East Sussex primary schools book award. Joshua Doder was especially pleased to win this one because the judges were children. Year 5 and 6 pupils from schools in East Sussex voted for their favourite title from a shortlist of six and chose 'A Dog Called Grk' as the winner.
'A Dog Called Grk' was shortlisted for the 2006 Branford Boase Award, which is awarded annually for the most promising first novel to a first-time writer of a book for young people.
