More about Savita Kalhan...
Favourite place: Wycombe Library – because it opened the door to so many different worlds, ideas and people.
Favourite books: Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, Novels of E. Nesbit, Flambards by K. M. Peyton, The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein, and Novels of John Wyndham and Roald Dahl.
Influences in my life: Rohinton Mistry – because his works are a modern version of the great classical writers complete with its social commentary of the times. Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine – because of the strong psychological element to her thrillers. Camus and Sartre – because I have always been interested in existentialism and the isolation of the individual burdened with choice and responsibility. Films - The Night of the Hunter and Aliens – exemplary tales of the survival of children against a predator who seeks to destroy them.
