 Korky Paul was born in Zimbabwe. He has lived in California and Greece as well as Great Britain. He studied at the Californian Institute of Art, Los Angeles, and then began a career as an Art Director in advertising, but found he enjoyed drawing so much he left to illustrate children's books. He is now a successful and well regarded picture book illustrator. |

 Gervase Phinn leads a very full and active life: a bestselling author and poet, teacher, freelance lecturer, educational consultant, school inspector, visiting professor of education and, last but by no means least, father of four. The majority of his time is spent in schools with teachers and children. He is best known for his autobiographical accounts of his time as a school inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, which have been likened to James Herriot's books. |

 Gudrun Pausewang was born in 1928, and had to flee Hitler's Germany at the age of 17. She has been a teacher and head mistress in Germany, and also in Chile and Venezuela, where she lived for many years. She is a celebrated author in Germany, having written over 70 children's books, many of which have been translated into other languages, and she is the winner of several literature prizes. |
