Elmer starred in one of the official £1 books for World Book Day this year, Elmer's Parade, and children up and down the country joined in the fun by dressing up as their favourite patchwork elephant on 5th March.

World Book Day was also marked by the launch of Elmer's Photo Patchwork, an innovative activity-based app that encourages creativity and fun – qualities closely associated with David McKee's hugely popular Elmer character.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is an elephant who stands out from the herd, and Elmer’s app is different too. It doesn’t keep children glued to the screen, it makes them look up, look around and get inspired by the world. You can use the iPad or iPhone's camera to take photos of interesting colours and textures, and add them to an elephant's patchwork pattern. Each elephant you decorate for the parade is unique, just like Elmer himself!
