Robin Lloyd-Jones was born in London, spent his childhood in India, and now lives in Helensburgh, Scotland. He has had adult titles published, as well as collection of short stories for children, and is a former president of the Scottish Association of Writers. He is a qualified sea-kayaking instructor, and is also a keen mountaineer.

Synopsis
Adam's father was a whaler in the Arctic - until the time he never came back. 16-year-old Adam desperately wants to find his father, so he signs on as a cabin boy in the next expedition travelling North.
