The Klaus Flugge salons are a new initiative from Andersen Press to celebrate our founder and chairman Klaus Flugge’s 90th birthday and welcome people to our new offices in Bloomsbury.
Following our recent successful salons, we are now announcing an event that everyone at Andersen Press has been waiting for, a discussion with picture book legend, Jeanne Willis. Celebrating the publication of her latest picture book, It’s Behind You! (illustrated by Momoko Abe), this event will trace Jeanne’s fascinating career history, from classics with Tony Ross, such as Tadpole’s Promise and the Dr Xargle series, to her most recent award-winning books such as Soft and Sticky (illustrated by Claire Powell) and My Mate Mark is a Hammerhead Shark (illustrated by Adrian Reynolds).
These events are open to anyone who wants to meet others in the publishing industry, enjoy a glass of wine and listen to an author or illustrator talking about their work. They are a celebration of all that is good about the world of children’s publishing today and an opportunity to make new friends, learn about new books and discuss ideas without the toxicity of social media.
Limited to 30 tickets, the event costs £8 and ticket price includes a signed book by the featured creator and refreshments.
Buy your tickets here.
The salon on 22 May will feature author Jeanne Willis, and all those attending will receive a copy of It’s Behind You! by Jeanne Willis and Momoko Abe.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All are welcome, old friends and new.
Please contact us at AndersenPublicity@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk if you have any access requirements.
About It’s Behind You! by Jeanne Willis and Momoko Abe
Nana and Gramps don’t know what they’re missing out on, if only they’d look behind them!
A walk in the park with Nana and Gramps is always a lot of fun, but they’re terribly slow and their grandchild isn’t allowed to race ahead. Walking dutifully behind them, the child is soon joined by a long line of fantastical characters: a bear, a monster from the sewers, a pirate and his crew . . . Those grandparents would never believe who else is on their walk, if only they’d look behind them!
